Wheel spacers can be used for various purposes. You can use them for cosmetic and performance reasons. Moving the wheels out will help them fill out the wheel well, this provides a wider stance and a wider track which will improve grip levels. Finally you can use spacer to move the wheels away from a part that the wheel or tire might rub against. This might happen with aftermarket wheels that are the wrong size for your BMW 1 Series.
